Kinnairdy Castle - Luxury Scottish Castle Stay Near the Moray Coast
Renowned for its fishing, this stunning area is celebrated for the River Deveron, famous for salmon and trout—and home to the UK record for the heaviest fly-caught salmon. Set within 450 acres, Kinnairdy Castle includes two salmon fishing beats (permits available via the owner), making it a paradise for anglers. Families and friends can enjoy scenic walks along the river, while the coast is just 13 miles away, offering beaches and the renowned ice creams of Cullen and Portsoy. Whisky enthusiasts can tour GlenDronach Distillery (5.5 miles) and sample some of their sherry-matured whiskies.
Dating back to the 14th and 15th centuries, Kinnairdy Castle is a traditional tower house blending original features with comfortable living. Enter via the side door into the kitchen, fully equipped and perfect for breakfast or casual meals. A small ground-floor lounge with Smart TV leads to the dining room, complete with vaulted ceilings, stained-glass windows, and a wood burner for cosy winter evenings. A WC and utility area sit beside the stairwell.
Upstairs, three beautifully decorated bedrooms include a super-king master, a king, and a double, along with a shower room. The main lounge, accessed via steps from the first floor, occupies the original tower, offering a quiet space to read or relax with a second wood burner. The second floor features a twin bedroom and a bathroom with a Victorian-style bath.
Outside, a large courtyard and garden include seating, a BBQ, and ample lawn space for children to play.
