Luxuriously renovated farmhouse up your own private road on Rothiemurchus Estate, with views over to Cairngorm Mountain. Originally a farmhouse, Achnahatnich was beautifully renovated in 2019 to provide a luxury stay in a uniquely private setting. You’ll be tucked away from it all, but only a short distance from the “ski road” running through Rothiemurchus Estate between Aviemore and Cairngorm.
From the front of the house you can watch the ever-changing colours and patterns on the mountains. Sit out for a while and listen to the pheasants, swallows and curlews as their calls carry across the quiet countryside. For an even more spectacular vista, the little sit-out-erie at the top of the hill behind the house provides magnificent views of the Lairig Ghru, one of Scotland’s most iconic mountain passes which leads to Deeside and Braemar.
London-based stylist and interior designer Fanny Ward designed the interiors in a modern Scandinavian style to be light and bright, practical but pretty. Her trademark quirky touches are everywhere – like a big statement chandelier above the staircase and lots of blue and white pottery on the walls. The sitting room is welcoming, warm and comfy – a perfect place to unwind with a dram in front of one of the wood burners after a day outdoors. The three bedrooms have all been furnished with supremely comfortable beds and linens – mattresses from Cocketts and luxury 600 thread count bedlinen- for the best night’s sleep you will have had in years. All three also have their own bathroom or shower room. The master bedroom has double doors through to an ensuite with decadent freestanding bath and shower.

What our guests say:
“We have stayed at a number of retreats in Scotland and rarely have we encountered a house so well appointed, comfortable and in such good taste. The rooms were exceptionally well furnished to the highest standards of comfort and the rest of the house fitted out with every modern convenience rarely seen outside America. An exceptional house for three couples looking for luxury in beautiful “out of the way” surroundings or a family looking for adventure in the highlands. To be thoroughly recommended”.
“We’ve had a really fantastic holiday in this beautiful farmhouse. The house itself is immaculate and very stylish. We’ve really enjoyed exploring the surrounding area and particularly enjoyed the peace and tranquility of such a secluded location.”
