Cross Tree House – Stunning 17th century thatched farmhouse for groups Somerset
Full of character and charm the property sleeps between 14 and 22 guests in the main house and a further 4 in an optional annexe. Built of golden hamstone with flagstone floors, beamed ceilings, leaded light windows, solid oak furniture and original oil paintings, it is the quintessential English country home; The perfect venue for joint family holidays, group courses and activities, house parties and reunions. The house has full central heating in every room and all services and logs are included in the rental so there are no additional bills to be paid at the end of your stay.
The ground floor entrance hall leads into two sitting rooms. One with an open fire and hi-fi, the other with a TV, video, DVD, piano and a sofa bed.
The pantry has laundry facilities with washing machine and tumble dryer.
The kitchen is large and fully equipped with gas AGA in an inglenook. The two oak refectory tables are capable of seating 28. The scullery has a six ring range gas cooker, microwave, three fridges, deep freeze, dishwasher and a large Belfast sink.
There are flagstone floors throughout the ground floor except in the sitting rooms, which are carpeted.
The Georgian staircase takes you from the entrance hall onto the first floor, which has 5 double bedrooms, two with an additional single and one with two additional single beds.
All rooms are spacious and comfortable with robust antique furniture and Turkish rugs.
The second floor has a further 2 double bedrooms, one with an additional single and one with three additional single beds.
There are also three cots and highchairs available.
Bed linen and duvets are provided. All beds are made up prior to your arrival.

There is snooker, table football, bar skittles, shove ha’penny, backgammon WiFi, HiFi etc etc and outside there is a walled garden and field with green oak games barn, badminton, croquet, BBQ and tree house. Hot tub by arrangement. Activities that range from Archery to Zorbing, classes and treatments both in house and nearby. Cater for yourself or choose from 4 different chefs that regularly cook in the house including one Michelin trained and a South West “chef of the year”.
See & Do
Within a 2 mile radius there are pubs, cider farms and restaurants for all tastes from the Lord Poulett Arms in Hinton St George (National Dining Pub of the Year) to the Dinnington Docks famous for once being part of the Chard and Ilminster Canal and brilliant “local”.
South Somerset is perfect walking country and with more than1,100 miles of paths and tracks it is easy to escape from the noise and bustle of modern life
South Somerset is also a haven for garden lovers or devotees of stately homes: we have Lytes Carey Manor, Tintinhull House, Barrington House, within a few miles, not to mention those just over the Dorset border, Forde Abbey and Athelhampton.
For the coast maybe a visit Lyme Regis or Charmouth
