Cwmbiga Cottages self catering rural retreat in Wales

A 16-acre smallholding and wildlife haven set in its own valley in the Hafren Forest and the Cambrian Mountains. The Clywedog Reservoir (renowned for its fly fishing) is nearby and we’re only 9 miles from the lovely market town of Llanidloes. The Glyndwr’s Way passes half a mile from us and we are 4 miles from the source of the Severn, the start of the Severn Way and the Wye Valley Walk. Cwmbiga is also on National Cycle Route 8, Lon Las Cymru.

If you are looking for a comfortable break in a lovely rural location with abundant wildlife, then our self catering cottages will fit the bill. The 4* cottages each sleep 7 and are a timber barn conversion – rustic on the outside, modern on the inside! They have a well-equipped kitchen, TV with DVD player, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine, making them a real home-from-home. They also have underfloor heating and a wood burner for winter breaks, plus a patio with garden furniture and barbeque for summer evenings.

The Cottages

If you’re looking for a ‘getting away from it all break’ in a beautiful rural location with abundant wildlife, then our eco friendly cottages will fit the bill. Over 80 species of bird have been spotted here (including the rare Willow Tit)! Cwmbiga is the perfect place to sit back and relax with a glass of something cold and enjoy the charm of countryside life. We are pet-friendly – two well-behaved dogs per cottage welcome by prior arrangement. There is a fenced field for them to run around in and miles of livestock-free walks starting from the doorstep.

CWMBIGA BACH COTTAGE

Cwmbiga Bach is a 4* self-catering cottage which sleeps up to 7 plus one infant in in two double rooms, one single room and a twin room with en suite shower room.  There is also a large, open plan kitchen and living area and a family shower room plus a porch for muddy boots.

The kitchen has a dishwasher, microwave, electric hob and fan oven, fridge and freezer and a washing machine. The cottage has underfloor heating and a lovely woodburning stove for cosy winter nights in. In the summer, the windows are fitted with a mesh screen so you can enjoy the breeze without having to worry about insects invading the property! There are leather sofas and a throw in the living area so you can relax in front of the flat screen TV (with Freesat channels and DVD player, as well as a selection of DVDs).

If you don’t fancy cooking, we have a range of pre-prepared meals you can purchase made here in our farmhouse with local and Welsh ingredients. There is a mini bar in the cottage stocked with Welsh cider, beer, water and also red and white wine.

The price includes all linen and towels, logs for the stove and fresh eggs from our chickens and cake on arrival.

The bedrooms all have built in wardrobes, drawers and underbed storage and there is space in the kitchen for you to put your food and drink. There is also a selection of baby toys and games for older children. A patio with garden furniture and a BBQ is outside the cottage and the kitchen windows look out towards the wildlife pond and woodland, with the Cambrian Mountains in the background. A bed with flowers and bushes is immediately outside the cottages, and you will see many birds come and visit the many feeders we have placed around the grounds.
