Local Area Turn South at the Church in Chideock and within approximately three quarters of a mile is the “sea town of Chideock”: Seatown. This pretty hamlet consists of a pub, “The Anchor Inn”, and a few houses and thatched cottages, Glenacres being one of the finest, and some of the most glorious scenery you will find anywhere.
It is set within an area of outstanding natural beauty, with the National Trust Golden Cap Estate adjacent to the hamlet. The estate’s secret valleys and rolling hills are served by more than 20 miles of footpaths and bridle ways, all rich in wildlife. The cliffs are famous for their fossils and the many superb walking opportunities with one beginning at Glenacres, the South West coastal path. The little hamlet is served by the local shop which is open during the summer season where you will find a post box and are able to purchase daily provisions, newspapers etc. There are a wider range of local amenities in Chideock including a post office / store, village hall, inns and hotels.
There is a great cafe culture and many fabulous restaurants, and the pubs alsondo brilliant food. There is the Wild Garlic Restaurant, Beaminster (Masterchef winner, Mat Follas), The Hive Beach Cafe, Burton Bradstock (one of the most idyllic and romantic eateries you will ever encounter), Hix Oyster & Fish House (Chef Mark Hix’s recently opened fantastic fish restaurant) and not forgetting the famous River Cottage Canteen.
