The Old Watermill – luxury self catering holidays in Northamptonshire
Nestled amongst undulating landscapes are beautiful and unspoilt towns and villages of Northamptonshire sits The Old Watermill. Retaining it’s original charm and character but with a modernised interior of an extremely high standard the mill is VisitBritain graded five stars (the top grade for comfort, amenity and facilities) and is on three floors. The Self Catering accommodation is fully centrally heated and double glazed and accommodates four, in two bedrooms.
One has a four poster bed and en-suite toilet with adjoining bathroom. The other has either two single beds or a king-size double available and adjacent toilet and shower room.
The gourmet oak finish kitchen has many features including: built-in dishwasher, larder fridge, microwave, slow cooker, ceramic hob and fan-assisted oven.
The sitting room and adjoining dining area has a vaulted ceiling complete with the original elm truss beams supporting some of the restored mill machinery. A wood burning stove, oak flooring and leather seating complete the luxury look.
On the ground floor is the entrance lobby and utility room with freezer and washer/drier. Outside, car parking is for two vehicles and there is a small garden area with river frontage. There is a no smoking policy within the building. One well behaved pet is permitted as long as it brings its own bed.
The mill has a long history and is connected intrinsically with the surrounding area, it’s a charming and historic former watermill, listed Grade II, and situated in a beautiful position on the banks of the River Nene. A well-known and interesting landmark which offers wonderfull views of the Nene in the lovely valley below the village of Great Doddington in Northamptonshire. Water from the mill stream still passes under the building through the mill race.
Thank you for a lovely stay. Such a pity we had to cut it short! We are mill enthusiasts and it was nice to stay in such a beautifully converted mill.
Just what we needed! A quiet break in beautiful surroundings in a lovely property. We are the folks that got lost on the way back from the Pub! Can we come again?
