Overbrook Barn – Recently converted, modern, yet cosy Peak District Barn
Overbrook Barn is a delightful and cosy place to spend a holiday in our spectacular countryside. The barn dates back to the early nineteenth century. A traditional pink gritstone building it was a livestock shippon with a hayloft, and was in agricultural use until early 2009 when the refurbishment began.
Overbrook Barn is located on the owners farm, Farbrook, which is a working farm where they breed excellent quality alpacas for the fine fibre industry.
Overbrook Barn sleeps 8 in four double rooms: it’s very comfortable, cosy, and has modern equipment throughout.
The living room, dining room, and kitchen are on the ground floor in a single open-plan space with three beautiful picture-window views over the farm. There’s a log burning stove, Sky TV, BluRay DVD, and a music system. The main bedroom with super-king double bed and ensuite is off this room. The ensuite has lavatory, hand basin, shower, and towel radiator.
Upstairs are the other three bedrooms and the bathroom. The upstairs bedrooms all have twin beds but these can be made into super-king doubles if you prefer. The bathroom has a bath with shower-over, lavatory, basin, and towel radiator. All bedrooms have TV/DVD, natural fibre carpet, duvets with cotton sheets and covers (bed linen and towels are provided).
The kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials you’ll need for adventurous cooking for a full house! It includes Neff oven, microwave, and ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, and washer/dryer, along with the usual range of kitchen equipment: food processor, toaster, kettle, etc.
Oil-fired central heating keeps the barn deliciously warm 24 hours a day, Overbrook has its own phone which you’re welcome to use, and there’s free wireless broadband internet throughout.
Overbrook has a gated and lit garden which is secure for small children. There’s a barbeque area with seating for eight, and we can arrange a hot tub rental if you’d like. Well behaved pets are welcome and there’s plenty of room for off-the-lead walking on the farm. There’s bags of room to smoke on the farm but please don’t smoke inside. The farm is your playground: treat it as if you owned the place!

See & Do
There’s a huge amount to do locally, along with great eating and drinking.
There are good restaurants in Buxton including Italian, Indian, Chinese, Pizza Express, and an excellent Thai. The Michelin starred Fischers in Baslow is excellent, but book ahead.
The New Inn in Flash is closest (15 minutes walk), and the larger Travellers Rest at Flash Bar on the main road is a further 10 minutes. A short drive away in Wincle, is a great 17th century pub The Ship Inn who serve excellent pub food. Also try The Hanging Gate in Sutton, and the Stanley Arms in Wildboarclough.
Countryside enjoyment starts with some of the best walking and cycling in the country on a network of bridleways and footpaths which start on the doorstep. There’s a trekking centre in the village so you can enjoy the same on four legs. Why not get involved in some local country life: watch milking, visit farm shops and the mushroom farm, or try your hand at some alpaca husbandry.
Some of England’s best loved country houses are on the doorstep. A visit to Chatsworth House and gardens, the water staircase, maze, and a picnic by the river, finishing off in the spectacular adventure playground if you’ve got children with you, makes for a truly glorious day out.
