Swallowtail Hill – Unique Holiday Experience in East Sussex
Swallowtail Hill offers a beautiful setting in which to spend a deeply relaxing holiday safe in the knowledge that its impact on the environment will be absolutely minimal. Located in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the farm offers a stylish glamping experience.
Glamping at Swallowtail Hill is a unique experience, with two unique cabins and two quirky cottages
There are two cosy wooden cabins – Wood and Penfold – which sit on wooden decks in the Beckley Bowl – a field so called because it is almost a natural amphitheatre. The field sits in the middle of the farm and backs on to a wood.
The cabins have been sited at the bottom of this hillside field next to a pond, which is regularly home to a family of moorhens.
Each cabin is a single space sleeping up to four people. There is one double bed and up to two single beds (or travel cots) can be added. The cabins are furnished simply but comfortably and in keeping with the surroundings. More information
Meadow Keeper’s Cottage
The Meadow Keeper’s cottage is a one-off. Hand-built by highly skilled local craftsmen with timber sourced from local woods, it’s a quirky cottage-on-wheels.
Inside it’s a carefully constructed single space that can accommodate four people. There’s a double bed, two singles that double up as benches, a small dining table between them, an indoor cooking area with gas hob and sink, a small wardrobe and, for chilly evenings, a log burner. More information
Woodcutter’s is straight out of Little Red Riding Hood. A cottage-on-wheels made of wood and surrounded by wood. It’s another one-off, custom made by local carpenters and woodsmen from locally sourced timber.
Clad in rough cut timber planking, and roofed with chestnut shingles, it is a single space that has a double bed, two benches that become single bunks at night, a dining table, an indoor cooking area with gas hob and sink, and a log burner. Just outside is your own firepit equipped with BonFire cooking kit, and an outdoor dining area. More information

This little corner of East Sussex is picture-postcard-pretty, just five miles north of the historic town of Rye and there is plenty to see and do in the area from Camber Sands, Winchelsea Beach and Hastings old town to Bodiam Castle, Sissinghurst and Great Dixter.
For some, a visit to Swallowtail Hill is all about the peace and quiet – the chance to get away from it all and live life at a slower pace for a while.
