Luxury Suffolk Cottages

Wilderness  – Luxury Cottages in Suffolk

Set within a 4,500 acre private country estate two hours from London, Wilderness is a unique luxury collection of manors, farmhouses, country cottages and follies in the heart of rural Suffolk just a short drive from the heritage coast towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh.

With its woodland rides, serpentine lakes and rolling parkland, Wilderness is the culmination of more than 20 years’ work to restore this most English of landscapes to its pristine state to ensure nature flourishes. Our beautiful properties, all available on an exclusive-use basis, are the ultimate choice for family holidays, anniversaries & celebrations, as well as corporate events and weddings in the county that boasts the greatest expanse of sky and cleanest air in England.

Feel warmth in our cosy yet refined country homesteads, cottages and barns on the Estate. Immerse yourself in luxury in our manor house with bespoke five-star service available tailored to your requirements or choose to live without electricity and find freedom in our ‘lost’ collection of remote dwellings.

Activities

Wilderness offers all the pursuits you could expect from an English country estate, plus some you wouldn’t.

Practise your shot under the expert guidance of a world-class clay pigeon champion, fish for rudd, skimmers, roach or carp in one of the lakes and moats or have your own tennis tournament on the hard court open year-round.

Explore the estate on Pashley bikes, play a round of gold at nearby Halesworth Golf, part of the estate, or take to the lakes in boats or paddle boards. Take a dip in the pool or hot tub, take aim at archery or learn more about the nature that calls Wilderness home with one of our Wilderness Rangers.

Dining

With a team of chefs (and a black book of suppliers) the estate offers everything from locally-sourced home-cooked food to fine dining for a pinch more formality. Suffolk boasts some fine local produce which features in our menus including organic vegetables, sustainable fish and hand-reared meats. Menus, which change with the seasons, can be tailored to your specific requirements and special diets are well-catered for.
