If you’re hoping to get away from it all, Anne’s Hut plunges you into total seclusion amongst the greenery and the tranquillity of the Wye Valley. Equipped and furnished to a high standard, these shepherd’s huts make ingenious use of space while including everything you need to enjoy your stay. One of the huts is the main living area, with cosy wood burning stove and modern amenities, while the other is the luxury bathroom. The huts are linked by a decking patio area. Below the huts is the fire pit, where you can try your hand at cooking outdoors or lounge in the comfy chairs and hammock. It is the ideal spot for relaxing after a day’s exploration, listening to the birdsong of the evening chorus all around you.

The ancient settlement of Penterry sits high on the hill between Chepstow and Tintern. From a spot just above Anne’s Hut which once housed a Roman Fort you have a perfect 360 degree view featuring seven counties. Designated as an AONB, the local area is beautiful and steeped in history. Chepstow boasts the oldest stone built castle in the land and Tintern with its majestic Abbey and stunning setting is a must to see. For gastronomes, there is a Michelin restaurant just 20 minutes away and there are many excellent eateries close by. If castles are your thing then there are five within 20 minutes and Llanthony Priory which is outstandingly beautiful is just 40 minutes away.

Accommodation Description

Main Hut:
Accommodation all on one level
Inside the hut:
The main hut is 2.2m wide and 6m long and is dominated at the far end by the super-king size bed.
At the other end is a well-appointed kitchen with fitted gas oven, fridge with small freezer section, along with a cosy dining table and chairs and small but effective wood burning stove.

Bathing Hut:
Across a decking patio is the bathing and dressing hut. This is a whole shepherd’s hut designed simply for bathing. You’ll find a double ended bath with a window at bath height, a full sized separate rain shower and a proper flushing WC. The hut is plumbed in with warm running water. Both huts are also centrally heated, so remain warm all year round.

Outside:
Decking patio with sheltered dining area. Fire pit and barbecue with chairs, hammock and occasional seating.
Please note that the decking area connecting the two shepherd’s huts is not enclosed.
Guests are unable to park next to Anne's Hut but parking is available at the top of the track to the meadow.

About the area

The attractive historic town of Chepstow is four miles away, boasting one of the oldest stone built castles in Britain. While you’re visiting Chepstow, don’t miss Chepstow Racecourse – the venue hosts everything from food festivals to concerts.

The evocative ruins of Tintern Abbey are just two miles away. Immortalised in a poem by Wordsworth, the ruins are set in a beautiful wooded valley with plenty of walks to enjoy.

If Tintern whets your appetite for ruins, don’t miss Raglan Castle near Monmouth. With a great tower, gatehouse and moat, this is everything a castle should be.

Further up the River Wye is the border market town of Monmouth, where you’ll find a famous 13th century bridge stretching over the River Monnow as well as modern boutiques and galleries.

One of the delights of Monmouth is The Whitebrook, a Michelin-starred restaurant, but if you fancy creating a dish or two of your own, Usk Farmer’s Market has lots of stalls offering fine, fresh produce. Markets are held every first and third Saturday of each month throughout the year.

If you’d like to take some exercise in the great outdoors, the Royal Forest of Dean has lots of cycle paths to explore, and you can hire off-road bikes here too. For an enjoyable stroll through the woodland, look out for signs for the sculpture trail.

Many award-winning restaurants and pubs are just a short drive away from Anne’s Hut, as are two first class golf courses, St Pierre (10 minutes away) and Celtic Manor (25 minutes away).
