Accommodating four guests (plus two with use of the futon beds), Apple Barn is a high quality modern conversion in an excellent unspoiled coastal position within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Apple Barn is situated at the head of a valley leading down to the estuary, with beautiful views to Salcombe and sunsets.

Several sandy beaches are within a 15-minute walk and nearby car parks include the National Trust car park at Mill Bay. There are scenic walks in all directions from the property including spectacular sections of the South West Coast Path and a track leading down to Mill Bay and the Salcombe estuary. It is a fantastic location for those who love coastal walks, sailing and peace.

For larger groups, this property and the self-contained barn next door plus an enclosed porch area connecting the two first floors is available to book as Apple Barn (8 Guests +2).

First Floor:
Accessed via a steep wooden 'ladder' staircase.
Loft area
With two single futons (suitable for older children/teenagers, please refer to the Additional Information) and Freeview television. Doorway leading to mezzanine bedroom.
Mezzanine bedroom
With twin 3' beds (can be converted to a super-king size bed on request).
Cloakroom
With wash basin and WC.

Outside:
Lawn area and paved patio terrace with views, garden furniture and gas barbecue.
Parking for two cars.

A telephone with honesty box is provided in the lower barn and in the shared porch. Please note there is no mobile signal at the property.
Please keep dogs to the ground floor only.
The property includes good pocket sprung beds, cotton bed linen, down duvets and logs.
This remote unspoiled location is 15 minutes’ drive from the A379, mostly along narrow lanes. Once there you do not need to use a car unless you wish to visit a nearby town. Access between the two barns is via steps internally or a short walk outside.

About the area

Being very close to the South West coast path there are spectacular walks in all directions. The local circuit (1-1/2 hours) passes above Rickham Sands, Sunny Cove then to Mill Bay and up an ancient wooded track back to the property.

Rickham sands is within half a mile, and is good for swimming. There is a carpark at the top by Gara Rock hotel.

The popular restaurant and bar at Gara Rock is a quarter of a mile from the property in a spectacular position overlooking the sea (seasonal opening times).

The foot ferry to Salcombe is approx. I mile walking via Mill Bay or driving to East Portlemouth foreshore. Operates daily except in exceptional weather, and continuously from 8.00-6.00 in summer. You may get the harbour taxi on the hour from 7pm to 10pm in summer.

Salcombe has excellent restaurants, cafes, shops and holiday buzz. Catch the ferry here for fishing, sailing, hire of dayboats, the national trust gardens at Overbecks and more spectacular walks towards Bolt Head.

The area is also very well known for sea fishing. For those looking to fish CMS Phoenix Charters do operate from Salcombe.

Various boat trips and boats for hire are available.

The villages of East Prawle and South Pool with their pubs, cafe and shop are within four miles.

The local market town of Kingsbridge is about 25 minutes. Range of shops and two supermarkets.

Excellent farm shop and café with garden centre at Stokenham, 20 minutes' drive.

For golfing enthusiasts, Thurlestone, Bigbury and Dartmouth golf courses can be reached in under 40 minutes.
