This romantic bolthole is the perfect spot to enjoy all that Fowey has to offer, with its own steps leading down to the sandy water’s edge, this is an idyllic spot to enjoy a special holiday break. Set in a building that was once a chandlers, where transactions took place from boats moored alongside the decking, it now affords views of the Boddinick Ferry; the home of Daphne Du Maurier opposite; and of the constantly changing river scenes.

Inside the cosy, open-plan sitting room, dining and kitchen area is welcoming, bright and characterful. Wander through to the bedroom where the wrought iron four-poster bed and luxurious en-suite bathroom, with its feature free-standing bath await. The decked balcony is the ideal spot for a morning coffee or a sundowner before dinner. If you’re lucky enough to own your own small boat or dinghy; with its own mooring, a stay at Barnacles comes complete with fun on the water!

The ancient town of Fowey, with its harbour, yacht clubs and historic buildings, has much to offer its visitors. Narrow streets lead to interesting shops, excellent restaurants, bistros and pubs, also allowing access to cliff tops and small sandy beaches at Readymoney Cove, plus a myriad of activities such as sea trips, boat hire and guided tours.

Accommodation Description

Barnacles is a waterfront apartment accessed from a street level front door, down a flight stairs leading down into a hallway, with the entrance to the apartment at the end on the left.
Open-plan kitchen/sitting/dining room
Kitchen
With electric cooker, ceramic hob and microwave, dishwasher, espresso coffee machine,.under-worktop fridge with small freezer compartment. A further freezer in the passageway cupboard along with a washer/dryer.
Sitting room area
With a contemporary glass, remote controlled, electric wall fire, Smart television with access to BBC iPlayer and Netflix, and a stand alone radio. Double glass doors leading to the decking.
Dining area
Small dining area for two behind the sitting room area.
Bedroom
With a 5' king-size iron four-poster bed and a 22 inch wall mounted flatscreen digital television with inbuilt DVD player.
En-suite bathroom
Luxurious en-suite bathroom with large free-standing bath and separate walk-in power shower, wash basin, WC and heated towel rail.

Outside:
Juliet balcony and a decked balcony area with table and chairs. Steps lead down to the sandy water’s edge with a frape to allow a mooring of a small boat.

Additional Information:
A small baby in own Moses basket is welcome.
Pay as you go mobile phone, for emergency use.
Please note the passageway into Barnacles has shared access with the freeholder, who very occasionally uses it.

Parking Information:
Changes have been made to parking in Cornwall car parks and this affects Barnacles guests.
Daily parking can be purchased for the Caff Mill car park over the phone on 01872 302947 or via the website www.justpark.com at location 8351, this is situated no more than 200 yards from Barnacles. Purchase by this method relates only to the Caffa Mill car park and at the time of this note the fee is £7 per day.
Alternatively, there is number plate recognition parking at Albert Quay in the middle of town, short term only (2 hours) and longer term parking in the car park past the Bodinik Ferry and the Library which is £5 per day. This is a further 150 yards past the Caffa Mill car park and managed by the Harbour MASTER’S OFFICE ON Albert Quay. Purchasing long term parking here also allows you to park in Cornwall County Council car parks in other towns.

The Fowey Tourist Information office has now been closed, but on the same site, near the Church, is ‘Enjoy Fowey’ which can provide emergency short term parking for arrivals on Saturdays and Sundays, as the Harbour Master’s office is not open at weekends.

About the area

The apartment is a five-minute walk to the centre of the town.

Enjoy one of the many festivals including The May 'Daphne Du Maurier week' (whose family home is directly opposite Barnacles), the August 'Fowey Royal Regatta' and the Christmas Fayre which all bring visitors to these immensely popular events.

Within a 10 minute drive are the beaches of Par and Polkerris.

It is possible to fish from the terrace, but a licence needs to be purchased by phone; 0844 8005386, or at the Post Office in Fowey. They are available for one, or eight days, and cover coastal and riverside fishing.

From the quayside in Fowey, pick up fishing boat, 'Moogie', contact Dan on 07792625908, or take a two hour mackerel fishing trip, (rods and tackle supplied 07445 280731), private boat hire is also available.

There is a Spa and swimming pool at The Cornwall Spa in St Austell, approximately 15/20 minutes away.
