About the area

The south west of Suffolk has lots of hidden gems to discover. The area is steeped in history with lots of fine architecture on display in the Wool Towns. Sudbury is a short drive from Belchamp Walter, whilst Long Melford and Lavenham are slightly further afield. The towns have numerous half timbered houses which date back to the 15th Century.

Bury St Edmunds is often described as a jewel in Suffolk's Crown. The Cathedral and Abbey Gardens are worth visiting and both the Theatre and Apex have a wide range of concerts, plays and events on. Ickworth House, which is just outside Bury St Edmunds is an Italianate Palace with parkland and gardens, now owned by the National Trust.

The stunning Suffolk Coast makes a wonderful day out with the sweet Victorian seaside town of Felixstowe being around an hours' drive.
