Cheltenham Cottage - Cotswold Holiday Cottage, Chipping Norton

As you enter through your own private entrance, Cheltenham Cottage is accessed via a spiral staircase. The spacious open-plan living area is flooded by natural light from six windows which look out to staggering views; on one side, across the walled garden, fields and woods to Stow-on-the-Wold in the distance; and on the other, over the stable courtyard and the parkland of Bruern Abbey.

The elegance and charm of the sitting room with its open fire and writing desk blends seamlessly with the modern feel of the kitchen/dining area.

The stairs lead up to two beautifully appointed bedrooms. One has a double four-poster bed with a cushioned window seat, and the smaller bedroom has twin single beds. Both share the family bathroom which has a shower over the bath and a beautiful marble wash stand.

Guests staying in Cheltenham have their own private summerhouse and terrace at the end of the garden, with a table, chairs and a large parasol, plus a barbecue for al-fresco meals. At the front is the wonderful sweep of the lawn and the 150 foot long border, backed by a wisteria and apple tunnel.

Cheltenham Cottage is part of Bruern Cottages and enjoys access to a the communal games room, two spa treatment rooms, a heated indoor pool, and gym area. There is a children’s playground at the property and there are also rental bicycles available for all too. Standard bicycles are free of charge and E-bikes are £30 per bike, per day.

About the area

Bruern Cottages are located in a peaceful hamlet with plenty of walks available for all abilities right from the doorstep, however should you want to explore further afield, there is a wide array of things to see and do nearby.

Enjoy a family day out at Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens, where you will find a wide range of animals, from lions and rhinos to meerkats and penguins. Or spend the day at Crocodiles of the World and discover the hundreds of different species of crocodile.

For the golfers in your group, there is The Wychwood Golf Club within driving distance from the property. The golf club is situated across 170 acres and is a golfers paradise.

If you fancy yourself as a bit of a thrill seeker, then head over to Cotswolds Water Park and Lakes and take advantage of their abundance of available activities. With the activities available ranging from water sports to archery, horse riding and bird watching, there is something for everyone.

A short drive from the property is the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace and Gardens. Spend the day exploring the extensive manicured gardens or surround yourself with the breathtaking interiors of the 300 year old palace itself. Blenheim Palace has a wide array of events to choose from all year round, making it the perfect place for a family day out. For history enthusiasts, there is also Warwick Castle - over 1000 years old, Warwick Castle has plenty of history to be immersed in.

Broadway Tower is located at the top of Fish Hill and is perfect for long countryside walks, or for simply enjoying a coffee and cake in the small on-site cafe. From the top of Broadway Tower, you can see up to 16 counties and are bound to cross paths with the wildlife that call the tower home.

Spend the day in the beautiful town of Stratford-upon-Avon and discover the life of William Shakespeare and the outstanding legacy he left behind, Shakespeare's Birthplace is the ideal place to start with a multitude of other places to visit right on the doorstep.

Less than an hour away, you will find Bicester Village - Oxfordshire's most famous shopping village and visited from far and wide. Home to over 130 top-name shops and delicious eateries, Bicester Village is a great place to while away the day.

Take the night off from cooking and head to the nearby town of Chipping Norton, home to a collection of fantastic restaurants and pubs. You will find Wild Thyme Restaurant, Chequers Pub, The Blue Boar and The Fox at the top of the market square. A little further afield you'll find The Kings Head Inn, in Bledington, The Chequers Inn in Churchill and The Wild Rabbit Pub and Restaurant in Kingham.
