Explore the many paths through woodland and along the riverside on your way to Chatsworth House. If you’re lucky, you will spot deer and other native wildlife.

The quiet village of Beeley is nestled in the Peak District National Park, close to the town of Bakewell and historic Chatsworth House. Situated six miles north of Matlock, at the southern end of Chatsworth Park, Beeley was originally an estate village inhabited by employees of the Duke of Devonshire. Beeley boasts panoramic views over the River Derwent, Lindop Wood and Stanton Moor. The village church of St Anne’s is particularly beautiful in spring, when it is surrounded by golden daffodils. The local pub is just two minutes walk from the cottage, ideal for those days when you don’t want to cook.

The Peak District is one of the best destinations for walking in the UK. There are countless routes and trails for all types of ability.

Often named the UK’s favourite country house, Chatsworth House is just 2 miles from the cottage. You could spend a day exploring the house itself, but spare time to wander around the gardens too – all 105 acres of them!

The Heights of Abraham just outside of Matlock is a hilltop park reached by cable car, with cavern tours, walking trails, fossil exhibitions and cafe.

The town of Bakewell sits on the banks of the River Wye. The culinary home of the famous bakewell pudding, make sure to stop by the Old Original Bakewell Pudding Shop to stock up on tasty treats.

Haddon Hall offers a wonderful day out, with elegant gardens and a perfectly kept house that dates back to the Middle Ages.
