About the area

Doves Barn is situated in the small Suffolk village of Badley between the two towns of Needham Market and Stowmarket. Needham Market has a variety of pubs, restaurants and cafes including Coffee Craft N Moore where you can sip on freshly brewed coffee whilst trying your hand at some arts and crafts. Alternatively, why not grab yourself a bag of chips and soak up some fresh air strolling around Needham Lake and Nature Reserve. A little further afield, The Crown in Stowupland serves a number of pub classics, as well as stone baked pizzas and The Kings Arms in Haughley offers a full a la carte menu.

Alder Carr Farm makes for a great family day out and has something for everyone, including the multi-award winning Alder Tree Ice Cream. The Courtyard Café offers a seasonal menu and the Farmshop sells artisan cheeses, locally sourced meat and a whole host of delicious produce to take home with you. The Alder Tree Ice Cream is made using fruit grown on the farm and popular flavours include strawberry and toffee apple. Once you’ve filled up on ice cream, you can explore the farm and surrounding area on foot.

If you fancy exploring the wider local area, Doves Barn is less than an hour's drive to the Suffolk Coast. The seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Southwold are both well worth the drive. A little closer to home, Helmingham Hall Gardens home to the Tollemache family for over 500 years, are open to the public from May to September. Once you’ve finished exploring, you can return to Doves Barn knowing you’ve earned your dip in the warm, bubbling hot tub.
