One of the highlights of the cottage can be found in the sitting room where the original forge with corbelled vault canopy and oak beam takes pride of place. A lovely wood burning stove sits in the hearth ready to create a cosy atmosphere when cooler winter nights draw in.

The dining area with antique wooden table and chairs features french windows that open on to a delightful cobbled patio and raised garden area. Equipped with a two person bistro set, barbecue area and handy covered store for bicycles, the private outdoor space is a fantastic spot to enjoy morning coffee in the sunshine or sit with a good book on lazy afternoons in the sunshine.

Forge Croft is the perfect accommodation for two guests. The cosy bedroom features a comfortable zip and link bed with the flexibility to be configured as either a super-king or twin single beds. Unusually for a one bedroom property, the cottage boasts two shower rooms giving guests the luxury of plenty of space to get ready in the morning.

About the area

Situated in the peaceful village of Skirpenbeck, Forge Croft is ideally located to explore York, the Yorkshire Wolds, the east coast and nearby market towns of Malton, Pocklington, Beverley and Helmsley.

he historic city of York is just 12 miles to the southwest. The renowned walled city, first founded by the Romans, is chock full of fantastic things to do. Notable attractions include the famous York Minster cathedral, York Castle Museum and the Shambles, an old street dating as far back as the fourteenth century.

There are some fabulous historic places of interest nearby. Impressive Castle Howard is a must see. On a smaller scale but equally fascinating is the deserted medieval village of Wharram Percy.

North Yorkshire is famed for the rugged landscape of its two National Parks, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales. Both can be reached within an hour's drive and are well worth the trip.

For a traditional seaside experience head to the Yorkshire Coast to visit the coastal towns of Whitby, Filey and Scarborough. There are some lovely beaches to walk along and there are many shops, pubs and cafes to try.

The cottage will appeal to those who love the great outdoors. There are numerous places to discover on foot or bicycle including Dalby Forest and the Yorkshire Wolds. The more adventurous can try watersport activities at Allerthorpe Lake. There are many great golf courses nearby such as York Golf Club or Sandburn Hall.
