Harome Chapel - Luxury Cottage In Helmsley, Yorkshire

Set in the small village of Harome, two miles south east of Helmsley in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire. Harome Chapel has been extensively renovated to create a magnificent holiday retreat within this historic Methodist Chapel. Whilst retaining all the original features, the owners have seamlessly combined modern comforts with character and style.

Harome Chapel is a stunning and unique property, with large stained-glass windows, vaulted ceilings and a spacious open-plan living space. From the entrance hall, step into the open-plan kitchen/dining room, where you can utilise the well-equipped kitchen to cook up a delicious family meal for all guests. Double doors open into the large sitting room, boasting a 65-inch television, comfortable seating and an additional dining area integrated into the original pulpit. Leading off from the sitting room is a ground floor shower room with infra-red sauna. Be sure to indulge yourself whilst enjoying the bluetooth speakers and bathrobes provided. Head through the hallway, past the remarkable and bespoke spiral staircase, to the two ground floor bedrooms. Bedroom three is the first with a 4’6 double bed and en-suite bathroom, followed by bedroom four with twin 3’ single beds and en-suite shower room. Back out into the hallway and climb the hand-crafted staircase leading up to the first floor, where the master bedroom is an enclosed mezzanine overlooking sitting room with vaulted ceiling. Both the master bedroom and bedroom two benefit from a 5’ king-size bed, en-suite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe.

Outside you can enjoy the enclosed rear garden with garden furniture and barbecue area, perfect for al-fresco dining and relaxing on the sun loungers, whilst sipping at your favourite drink.

Harome is an attractive village dotted with pretty cottages and is home to two renowned restaurants, both of which are within walking distance of Harome Chapel. The local area is blessed with numerous walking routes around some of Britain’s most popular landscapes.

Additional Information:
The bedding is non-feather (hypoallergenic).
A manual is provided for the infa-red oceanic sauna at the property, we ask all guests to please shower before entering the sauna and read the safety precautions provided.
Underfloor heating. The heating within the Chapel is set at a pre-set temperature, with every room having an individual thermostat to control at your leisure.

About the area

Harome is an attractive village dotted with pretty cottages (many thatched), a church and two renowned restaurants, The Star at Harome holds a Michelin star, whilst The Pheasant Hotel is a 3 rosette awarded restaurant within walking distance of the Chapel.

If you prefer something a little less fancy, the market town of Helmsey is just 2.5 miles away and has many excellent restaurants for all tastes and budgets. Visit the Mediaeval Castle or the walled garden with its superb café; the pastries are delicious! There are also many independent shops, an Arts Centre and the National Birds of Prey Centre in the grounds of Duncombe Park.

Close by are the villages of Kirkbymoorside, which sits on the edge of the North York Moor and Pickering, with its Castle and famous North York Moors Railway; book an afternoon tea on board and marvel at the stunning scenery whist chugging your way from Pickering to Whitby along the coast.

Whitby, 35 miles away, the historic fishing town with a Cistercian monastery and very own Abbey, famed for its association with Bram Stoker, who took his inspiration for the Dracula books from here; and Captain James Cook who sailed from Whitby on the Endeavour to discover Australia.

Malton holds monthly food fairs and is Yorkshire's capital of food and the northern home of the horse racing industry; once a year the stables open up for visits from the public.

Explore the historical city of York, just 2.5 miles away. There is plenty to see and do from York Minster, the Jorvik Viking Centre, National Railway Museum to the famous Betty's Tearoom you will not be disappointed.
