About the area

Barton-on-the-Heath is situated 4 miles from the popular Cotswold market town of Moreton-in-the-Marsh. As well as the mainline railway station with regular trains to London, Moreton has a wonderful selection of independent shops and places to eat.

The cottage is perfectly located to discover the many lovely market towns and villages across the North Cotswolds. Highlights include Stow-on-the-Wold, Burford, Chipping Campden and Broadway.

Ten minutes drive away is Whichford Pottery, an independent, family run pottery with courtyard garden, shop and kitchen cafe. On the way back why not stop at Long Compton for a drink at the Red Lion, a popular pub with locals?

There are many lovely gardens nearby. Batsford Arbouretum offers 56 acres of tree and shrub filled gardens as well as a gift shop, garden centre and a great cafe serving freshly cooked meals daily. Hidcote and Kiftsgate Court Gardens are a little further away but well worth the drive.

The area has many fantastic local food and drink producers. Daylesford Organic Farm Shop is perhaps the most well known but if you're in the area also look up Todenham Manor Butchery and Farm Shop, the Cotswold Distillery and Hook Norton Brewery.

For a spot of pampering book a spa day at Bamford Wellness Spa.

You won't be short of good places to eat out during your holiday. The Wild Rabbit in Kingham, The Bower House in Shipston-on-Stour, The Old Butchers in Stow-on-the-Wold and trendy Soho Farmhouse are all within a short drive.
