Long Barn has been tastefully refurbished to a high standard, incorporating its traditional beginnings with all the comforts of contemporary living. The accommodation is all ground floor and presents a light and airy open-plan living space, guests staying between late May and early September can also enjoy private access to the outdoor heated swimming pool. Long Barn serves as both a private summer haven and a cosy winter retreat.

The open-plan living space features exposed beams, a wood burning stove, vaulted ceilings and a well-equipped kitchen which has all you need to prepare a range of meals from a light lunch to a wonderful supper. The dining table sits adjacent to the kitchen area, allowing for a social evening while the chef of the group cooks up something tasty or why not take a break from the cooking and pre-order a delicious home-made meal. The sitting room area provides comfy seating and a cosy wood burning stove, perfect after a long day exploring the local area. Bedroom one boasts a sumptuous king-size bed, en-suite shower room and french doors opening out to the garden. Bedroom two provides twin 3’ zip and link single beds, which can be made into a super-king size bed on request. The family bathroom features cosy underfloor heating, ideal for those cooler mornings.

Long Barn sits in front of a traditional Cotswold stone courtyard stable block, with a Norman church as a backdrop. There is a private, fully enclosed south facing garden offering stunning views across unspoilt countryside with fields of grazing horses and free-range chickens. The property has private access from the stable courtyard where there is ample parking.

Situated on the outskirts of the village of Coates, which has both the source of the River Thames and the architectural structure of the Coates Portal, part of the longest tunnel on the Thames and Severn Canal located at the Tunnel House Inn.

This is the perfect rural retreat, surrounded by tranquil countryside and beautiful parkland with superb walking routes straight from the front door. You are also within close distance to some excellent pubs.

Private, enclosed south facing garden with garden furniture and barbecue.

Additional Information:

Dogs must remain on the lead when not in the garden of Long Barn.
There are a couple low beams, we recommend familiarising yourself with the property upon arrival.
Guests bringing an infant must bring own travel cot and highchair.

About the area

From Long Barn you are ideally situated to explore the beauty and history of the Cotswolds, from dozens of pretty villages and beautiful market towns offering a wide range of independent shops, cafés, pubs and restaurants.

Just 5 miles away is the market town of Cirencester, often referred to as the capital of the Cotswolds, dating back to the Roman Times, it provides fascinating history, architecture, attractions and places to eat.

Slightly further away is the town of Tetbury which is the second largest town in the Cotswolds and once was an important market for Cotswold wool and yarn during the Middle Ages. Today though, it is better associated with boutique shops and great food. Just outside of Tetbury is Highgrove the residence of HRH Prince Charles and is host to some beautiful and charming gardens. Garden tours are available and is open throughout the summer, however advance booking is required.

Arboretum at Westonbirt, set in 600 acres of rolling Cotswold countryside including 17 miles of footpaths to explore. In the autumn it offers spectacular colours, this breath-taking site has to be seen to be believed.

A short drive away, discover the historic town of Malmesbury, the oldest borough in England, with its impressive semi-ruined Abbey and picturesque winding streets.

Just down the road you can visit the Cotswold Water Park, one of the largest areas of inland water offering a wide range of nature activities and water sports. The famous Wildfowl and Wetlands site at Slimbridge and the magnificent Berkeley Castle are also within easy reach.

The historic Roman town of Bath which has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site is just 45-minute drive away with plenty to see and do, including The Roman Baths, Pulteney Bridge and Bath Abbey.

Gloucestershire boasts a busy calendar of events for spectator sports throughout the year. These include Badminton Horse Trials, The Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe Park, Rugby at Kingsholm and Cheltenham Racecourse.

The historic town of Cheltenham is approximately 10 miles away. There is plenty to do with an array of shopping outlets, boutiques, cafés and restaurants as well as famous sites such as Pittville Park, which is the largest ornamental park in Cheltenham and features the magnificent Pump Room and lakes.
