No.2 The Fish Cellars - Coastal Holiday Home, Port Quin, Cornwall

No. 2 The Fish Cellars is a stunning and unique two storey conversion, lovingly refurbished to a very high standard by the present owners and is located just footsteps from the shore.

The open-plan living area is perfect for cosy living with a beautiful wood burning stove which is surrounded by large, comfortable sofas and contemporary furnishings. The well-equipped kitchen includes a stunning three oven Rangemaster, ideal for cooking up home-cooked feasts which can be relished around the large dining table; alternatively head through the french doors and host dinner al fresco.

The spacious bedrooms upstairs are steeped with character and have lovely views of the pretty courtyard and beyond. The useful utility room and downstairs shower room are perfect for muddy boots and sandy feet after a long day exploring the beautiful Cornish coast.

The property is approached through a pretty courtyard with cobbled stones and has allocated parking for two cars. The word “cellar” is a local term for a fish processing shed and the Fish Cellars were once used to salt and press huge hauls of pilchards into barrels before they were exported to Southern Europe many years ago.

Situated just across the road (literally footsteps from the water) from the picturesque cove at Port Quin, owned by the National Trust. This is a wonderful, tranquil location for sunbathing on the beach, swimming in the sea and relaxing on the rocks, as well as walking the coastal footpath to the quaint fishing harbour at Port Isaac.

About the area

Port Isaac is a historic fishing village situated on the North Cornwall coastline with lovely fisherman’s cottages and narrow streets, the most famous being "Squeezy Belly Alley", said to be the narrowest street in the world!

Made famous by its alter-ego ‘Port Wenn’ in the television series ‘Doc Martin’. Visitors can take part in a tour which enjoys all the landmarks from the show. You can even ascend the lovely flower-lined hill path up to the Doctor’s Surgery and take in the breath-taking views overlooking the crystal-clear waters below.

While holidaying in Port Isaac you will not want to miss a performance by the bestselling folk group Fisherman’s Friends. Find them down on the harbour every Friday evening through the summer months.

The village has a daily fish market and there are two 'Nathan Outlaw' restaurants. Make sure you dine out at the picturesque seafood restaurants (there are plenty to choose from!) and revel in the atmosphere of many lively cafes and bustling boutiques such as the Pottery and Chapel Café.

Head to the Port Quinn harbour and spend the day with Cornish Coast Adventures; enjoy a kayaking or paddle boarding tour. For more family fun filled adventures, the popular water-sports havens of Polzeath and Rock are only a short drive away.

Soak in the local history at Doyden Castle or explore your natural surroundings on the stunning walk from Port Isaac to Port Gaverne. Or spend a day relaxing at Tregardock Beach.
