Pillar Box House is a large, detached and striking, three-storey pink house oozing style and character. Perfect for groups of friends or a larger family or two, this delightful abode is located in the rural Norfolk village, yet within easy reach of pubs, shops, and the coast and beaches too.

Named after the red post box in one of its walls, the character doesn’t stop there. With a commanding reception hall, inglenook fireplace, wooden floors and timbered beamed ceilings throughout, the property is beautifully furnished and styled to an exceptionally high standard. This stunning property as voted Best Holiday Cottage in the East by the Eastern Daily Press in 2022.

Enter into the beautiful reception hall leading to a spacious beamed sitting room with inglenook fireplace and cosy open fire, along with Sky TV. There are two further televisions, one in the library/snug with Apple TV; and another in the luxury master suite, which occupies the entire second floor. The kitchen and dining area are particularly spacious and well-equipped and perfect for entertaining and complemented by the wood burning stove.

In all there are four bedrooms; the master king-size suite with en-suite shower room, two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom along with a family bathroom too.

Outside, the property has a private fully-enclosed garden and separate side garden with lawn. The hot tub in the garden is the ideal way to relax after a day spent exploring the area, the water is changed before the arrival of each guest, so it may be a little cooler than normal if you want to take the plunge as soon as you arrive, but soon warms up!

Due to the nature of this property there are some low beams and a low door-way from the kitchen to the sitting room.
Pillar Box House has a hot tub which can be used by guests over the age of 18 years old.
There are two traditional Norfolk Winder Staircases offering a second access to two of the bedrooms however there is a main staircase to both the first floor and second floor, and the steep Norfolk Winder Staircases do not need to be used to access any of the rooms if preferred.

About the area

Hackford is a pretty hamlet that is mentioned in the Domesday Book and is just down the road from the market town of Wymondham, where you’ll find shops and a magnificent twin-towered abbey.

The Georgian village of Hingham is two miles away, with a country pub on the village green as well as lakes if you fancy a day’s fishing.

The county town of Norwich is just a short drive away, with its Norman cathedral, 12th century castle theatres and shops. If you’re here in May, the Norfolk & Norwich Festival is a riot of sights and sounds, celebrating music, art and literature.

If you fancy stretching your legs, take a trip to Thetford Forest. There are lots of walks and cycle paths, and the heathland makes an ideal spot for a picnic.

Hire a boat and explore the meandering waterways of the Norfolk Broads.

The North Norfolk Coast is 40 minutes’ drive away, where you’ll find miles of award-winning beaches, unspoilt sand dunes and salt flats that are ideal for kite flying.
