Longing for an escape to the woods or the chance to paddle in a Lakeland stream? Back-to-nature combines with luxury within this exquisite solar-powered shepherd’s hut. The Rowan Retreat offers a five foot king-size bed, a private Scandinavian-style en-suite shower room with a heated chrome towel rail and flushing WC, and a bijoux kitchen, perfectly suited for two with a handmade fold down oak table, a gas hob, oven, fridge and sink. Whether you want to get out and about in the nearby Lake District National Park, hike to the nearby Boot and Shoe pub in Greystoke or just relax in the Adirondack chairs and catch up on that book you have been hoping to read, this charming shepherd’s hut, nestled above a flower filled meadow, provides the perfect place to enjoy fresh air and stunning river views.

Step out of Rowan Retreat and you are overlooking the River Peterril, accessed via a private grassed path through the woodland meadow. Light up the fire pit or Weber charcoal barbecue (complimentary logs and charcoal are provided) and dine al-fresco at the picnic table by the stream. Enjoy the welcoming complimentary breakfast hamper in the morning, get out and explore during the day and then relax in the evening in front of the fire, open a bottle of wine and enjoy the sunset, and later on the stunning star light display in peace and privacy.

Rowan Retreat is just over a mile from Greystoke Village which can be reached by footpath from the hamlet of Blencowe. Set in the Eden Valley in Cumbria, considered one of the most beautiful and rural areas in England, Blencowe is situated on the edge of the Lake District about four miles from the Lake District National Park.
