About the area

Across the Lizard Peninsular are many charming villages including Cadgwith, Coverack and Mullion, which offer a vast coastal scenery, delicious eateries and farm shops. The closest restaurant is Jumunjy Thai Restaurant, with its vibrant dishes and quirky interiors. For a delicious lunch or afternoon tea followed by an ice cream stop, try Rosikilly’s in St. Keverne.

With the majority of the neighbouring land being owned by the National Trust, The Lizard has many renowned beaches such as Poldhu Cove, a favourite amongst locals and visitors, surfers and wildlife watchers and Kynance Cove, with its contrasting wide sandy beach and the dark red and green serpentine rock producing breath-taking sights.

Kennack Sands is near the village of Kuggar comprising of two beaches with some grassy areas which are divided by a small hill called Carn Kennack and a rock feature called Caerverracks. There is a nature reserve to the east of the beach which can be reached along the footpath which runs along the back of the beach and over Carn Kennack.

The closest towns are Porthleven and Helston, they offer a great selection of restaurants and independent shops. Porthleven has a bustling restaurant scene, some of our favourites include Kota Kai for harbourside fusion dining, The Square offering the finest local produce and The Mussel Shoal serving the freshest seafood.

Some attractions which are well worth visiting are the Lizard Lighthouse at Lizard Point, the magical St Michael’s Mount in Marazion and the Goonhilly Earth Station at Goonhilly Downs, where you can see the largest satellite dishes in the Northern Hemisphere.

With complimentary access to Bonython Estate Gardens, one of the Great Gardens of Cornwall, we really wouldn’t blame you for spending your days wandering the idyllic grounds. Other gardens within driving distance include Trebah Garden and Glendurgan Garden at Mawnan Smith, Bosvigo Gardens and Trelissick Garden near Truro.
