Unconformity Barn - Luxury Cottage In Shropshire

Located in the quaint village of Hope Bowdler, surrounded by delightful walking routes and beautiful landscapes in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Unconformity Barn is perfect for exploring the local area. This charming property is just under two miles from the busting market town of Church Stretton with all its amenities, including places to eat and shops to browse.

The barn was constructed in the 19th century using local Shropshire stone, however the rock making up its foundations is over 600 million years old and is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The owners have extensively converted and modernised the property to create a stylish and comfortable holiday home. The open-plan living space includes a well-equipped kitchen, a dining table with seating for two, and a sitting area with cosy wood burning stove, ideal for a romantic night in and unwinding after a long day walking the scenic routes. Located on the first floor is the master bedroom, featuring a super-king size bed which can be converted into twin single beds if required. The bathroom is adjacent to the bedroom and benefits from a contemporary free-standing bath and a separate, walk-in shower.

Outside, the private rear patio with garden furniture enjoys views across the hill beyond. The local countryside around the area is steeped in history and folklore. Be sure to climb Caer Caradoc and walk the ramparts of this impressive Iron Age hill fort. The area is also known for its food, including the two renowned food festivals, both within easy reach of the property. There are also regular farmers’ markets held locally and many good farm shops in the area. Unconformity Barn is perfect for that romantic getaway, whether it be a long weekend away or a longer staycation.
